” The Job Description”
- SAS Platform Administration: Manage the installation, configuration, and administration of SAS environments (SAS Viya, SAS 9.x, etc.), ensuring they run efficiently and securely.
- Data Management: Oversee data management tasks such as data integration, transformation, and loading (ETL) for use in SAS platforms.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of SAS environments, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum resource efficiency.
- Platform Security: Implement and maintain security protocols for the SAS platform, including user access management, role-based access control (RBAC), and encryption.
- Data Integration: Lead the integration of external data sources (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, Hadoop) with the SAS platform for analytics and reporting.
- Automation: Develop automation scripts and workflows for routine tasks like data loading, platform monitoring, and backup operations.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Set up monitoring tools to track system health, performance metrics, and application logs. Perform regular maintenance, including patching and updates.
- Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, business analysts, and IT teams to ensure smooth operations of the SAS data platform, and to facilitate advanced analytics and business intelligence activities.
- SAS Viya Expertise: Oversee deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of SAS Viya environments, ensuring optimal usage of cloud or on-premises resources.
- Data Governance: Implement best practices for data governance, including data quality, metadata management, and regulatory compliance.
- System Scalability: Lead capacity planning and ensure the SAS platform scales efficiently with growing data and processing needs.
- Reporting and Analytics: Support reporting needs by ensuring data accessibility and providing technical expertise to business intelligence teams.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, troubleshooting guides, and processes.
Requirements:
- SAS Expertise: In-depth knowledge of SAS Data Management and Analytics platforms, including SAS Viya, SAS 9.x, SAS Enterprise Guide, and SAS Studio.
- Platform Administration: Strong experience with SAS platform administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Performance Tuning: Expertise in performance tuning and optimization of SAS platforms to handle large datasets and complex analytical workloads.
- Data Integration: Experience with data integration tools and ETL processes, particularly within the SAS environment.
- Scripting Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, SAS Macros for automation.
- Cloud Experience: Hands-on experience deploying and managing SAS environments in cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Security and Compliance: Strong understanding of security best practices in SAS environments, including managing access, encryption, and data compliance regulations.
- Database Connectivity: Expertise in connecting and integrating databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) with SAS platforms.
- Troubleshooting: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to SAS software, infrastructure, and data processes.
- Data Management: Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database management concepts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience working with SAS platforms, including at least 2 years in a platform administration role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale, mission-critical SAS environments.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications: SAS Certified Platform Administrator or other SAS-related certifications.
- Data Governance: Experience implementing data governance frameworks and best practices.
- BI Tools: Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as SAS Visual Analytics, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Big Data Technologies: Knowledge of big data platforms like Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka in conjunction with SAS.
