” The Job Description”

  1. Configure, manage, and maintain Oracle Exadata hardware and software, including storage, compute nodes, InfiniBand switches, and networking components.
  2. Monitor resource utilization and OCPU allocation, ensuring optimal performance.
  3. Plan and implement patching, firmware upgrades, and infrastructure updates with minimal downtime.
  4. Enable and optimize Exadata-specific features, continuously reviewing placement strategies.
  5. Practical experience with Exadata platforms (version 7 and above) and Oracle Exadata Cloud, Customer (ExaCC), including managing resources via the cloud dashboard.
  6. Install, configure, and administer Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c) on Exadata, focusing on RAC, ASM, and Data Guard configurations for high availability.
  7. Perform database tuning and optimization, ensuring peak performance across all Exadata components.
  8. Develop and manage robust backup, restore, and disaster recovery solutions using RMAN with ZFS and Data Domain.
  9. Apply expertise in CDB & PDB architecture for efficient multitenancy and database consolidation.
  10. Execute migrations and upgrades using Data Pump, RMAN Transportable Tablespaces, and lead cloud migrations from on-premise to Oracle Exadata CloudCustomer.
  11. Diagnose and resolve database and application performance bottlenecks through SQL tuning, index management, and resource optimization.
  12. Provide performance recommendations during development design sessions, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
  13. Implement and enforce database security best practices, defining standards to meet security policies and regulatory compliance.
  14. Conduct regular security audits, patch management, and vulnerability assessments.
  15. Design and maintain highly available database solutions using Oracle RAC and Data Guard, ensuring 24/7 system uptime.
  16. Implement and test disaster recovery strategies for critical databases, ensuring rapid recovery.
  17. Investigate and resolve database issues, outages, and performance problems, including those arising from application server, network, storage, or OS layers.
  18. Provide Level 2 and Level 3 database support across production, development, and testing environments.
  19. Coordinate with Oracle Support (SRs) to resolve complex Exadata-related incidents.
  20. Automate monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization tasks using Perl, Unix Shell scripting, and Python.
  21. Maintain comprehensive documentation of database environments, configurations, and tuning efforts.
  22. Generate regular reports on database performance, health, and maintenance activities.
  23. Plan and execute database and infrastructure patching/upgrades across all layers, including databases, storage nodes, servers, and networks in Exadata environments.
  24. Continuously assess and apply improvements to enhance database availability, capacity, and performance.

    Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in Oracle Exadata administration..
  • Extensive experience with Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters), ASM (Automatic Storage Management), Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  • Experience with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, 19c, and their features.
  • Experience with Exadata Storage Servers, including management and optimization of cell servers.
  • Proficiency in backup and recovery solutions, including RMAN and Data Pump.
  • Experience with Exadata X-Series models.
  • Hands on experience on Managing and administrating Oracle Exadata platforms, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Hands on experience with Data migration, replication, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Experience with Monitoring and optimizing Exadata performance to ensure high availability and efficiency.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments, shell scripting, and automation tools.
  • Knowledge of ZFS Storage Appliances and Infiniband architecture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Oracle Database and Exadata technologies is a plus.
